The week of 2nd – 6th October 2017 is National Customer Service Week, celebrating all things customer-centric. The week is run by the Institute of Customer Service, a membership organisation which aims to help its members improve customer experience and business performance.
The Institute has more than 500 group members and 4000 individual members, including household names like Boots, Specsavers, Sainsburys and Laura Ashley.
The organisation helps to improve customer experience and business performance through set standards and benchmarks, and offers accreditation for businesses who meet the standards.
The Importance of National Customer Service Week
As part of its drive to improve customer service from British businesses and brands, the Institute of Customer Service has been celebrating National Customer Service Week since the 1980s in America, and is today celebrated in 60 countries across the world.

In the UK this year, National Customer Service Week will celebrate and debate a range of different issues across the customer service spectrum, including the importance of listening to customers and unlocking your own potential to improve customer service across your business.

Tuesday 3rd October – Rise to the challenge
Wednesday 4th October – Getting the board on board
Thursday 5th October – Unlock your potential
Friday 6th October – Recognition
